THE ARTIST

A SURPRISING STORY

Jair Gabriel is a surprising artist, not only for his work, but for his own history. Born in Porto Velho, Rondônia, in 1950, he lived part of his life as a rubber tapper in the Amazon rainforest, without ever imagining that he would become an artist. Traveling through Brazil, he came to Bahia, in 1992, where he met his wife Ermanna, taking up residence in Salvador.

The encounter with the art took place in 1995, at the studio of plastic artist, Edison da Luz, when he had his first contacts with brushes, paints and canvas, discovering his artistic vocation and making his first paintings. Encouraged by Edison da Luz, Jair Gabriel quickly developed a personal style, using the pointillism technique, through which he expresses his sensitivity and his rich imagination, inspired mainly by the times lived in the forest.

SELF TAUGHT

He acquired a mastery of the use of colors that can be seen in his creative compositions, where the elements of his native region predominate.

Jair Gabriel uses several forms of pictorial expression, which can be seen in birds, branches, butterflies, and human figures, which enriches his canvas, obtaining a result that is spontaneous, joyful, communicative, and at the same time, intimate.

Free of any sophistication, the artist creates a work that is genuinely Brazilian. The interest for his work has been standing out not only in Brazil but also in Europe, where he held several exhibitions..
